Sewing Room Storage Ideas on a Budget! Repurpose What You Have!

For years I’ve sewn on the kitchen table only to pick my project up, to set the table for meals and then get it out again. What a drag! But not anymore. I now have a designated sewing / home office space and I LOVE it!

I’ve taken a TV / Media cabinet and used it to store fabric and books.

I’ve taken a black four-drawer file cabinet and repurposed it to store fabric.

No more digging through a box looking for fabric. I have hopes of organizing fabric by color, but that hasn’t happened yet.

My most recent acquisition was from my sister Danette. She gave me a cool cabinet on wheels that I placed at the end of the quilting table.

It has six skinny drawers and two doors for storing patterns, crochet hooks, and knitting needles. A few of the drawers are empty right now, but I’m sure not for long.

I've got way to many knitting needles!

  1. I love these ideas! I have an armoire holding a TV that we rarely use, and I know I can find an old filing cabinet on Craig’s list–probably free! This is a very clever use of old office furniture. Thanks, and keep the ideas coming!
