My Quilty Purse using a Dresden Plate Block

I’ve needed a new purse for some time now. I just wasn’t sure what I wanted. I could go out and buy a purse, but what’s the fun in that? I wanted it to be quilty with lots of fabric and colors, but it had to be convenient and easy to carry. Here is my old purse. I’m embarrassed to even show it.Old purse So I came across a picture of a dresden plate cut in half and placed on a purse and thought that was perfect. I wish I could give credit for the picture I saw, but I can’t remember if it came from a blog or a book. I just loved it! So with no pattern, this is what I made.

My dresden plate purse with shoulder strap, 9" zipper, and two inside pockets. I love the red, white and black print fabrics.

I recycled the shoulder strap from my old purse and added two inside pockets special made for my wallet and my cell phone.

The inside has room for my cell phone and wallet in two side pockets.

I used a decorative wooly thread and top-stitched the red center (My handwork isn’t that impressive, not sure I’d do that again). This was my first dresden plate. I got the free tutorial from Sew Mama Sew. Close up dresden plate purse
