My granddaughter Kendal was four when she insisted that I teach her how to sew. So I went to my fabric stash and found this piece of polar fleece. I drew a line with a felt-tipped marker, handed her my gingher shears and asked her to cut on the line. Then I sat her on my lap and let her take my serger for a spin while I ran the foot pedal. We talked a lot about keeping fingers out from under the needle. She was so proud of the blanket she made!
